Board Member Expectations

Board meetings are held on a monthly basis and can last from 1-3 hours per meeting. It is expected that you attend 75% of the meetings per year. All board members are expected to participate in a committee, volunteer at events, help raise money and sponsorship dollars for the club, as well as be an integral part of the Club to help bring new ideas, people, and sponsors on board. As a club, we abide by Clemson University Alumni guidelines and code of ethics and operate on the fiscal year of July-June.

Committees

  • Membership – Vets all new board member applications; assists with onboarding of new members; maintains list of members and their attendance at events
  • Sponsorship – Works closely with the executive team to come up with yearly sponsorship levels and helps each event committee with their individual levels; manages sponsors to ensure each sponsor is happy and up-to-date with events and what is part of their particular sponsorship level, as well as helps find yearly sponsors for event sponsors; assists with silent auction items and the auctions themselves
  • Philanthropy – Looks for ways to give back to the Greenville community and to Clemson University; researches charities supplied by board members for monthly donations to local charities
  • Social/Marketing – Assists event committees in getting all events, dates, information, etc. on social media and promotes events, posts, etc. based on the budget provided by the committee; maintains the club website; sources printing; designs flyers, signage, etc. as needed and adheres to the Clemson University guidelines; procures any promotional items approved by the club and each event committee
  • Event: Prowl & Growl – Plans, manages, and runs the golf tournament each year; works with the sponsorship and social committees to ensure sponsorships are procured and the event is being marketed
  • Event: Oyster Roast – Plans, manages, and runs the golf tournament each year; works with the sponsorship and social committees to ensure sponsorships are procured and the event is being marketed
  • Event: Golf – Plans, manages, and runs the golf tournament each year; works with the sponsorship and social committees to ensure sponsorships are procured and the event is being marketed
