200 FHCC members and guests attended the August 6th Big Thursday lunch, sponsored by Tango Pest Control & Property Maintenance, with guest speaker Dean Steven Marks sharing an update on the newly opened College of Veterinary Medicine at Clemson University.
Dr. Marks walked a rapt audience through the facilities and continuing plans for the Veterinary campus, along with details on the first cohort of eighty students that will commence their studies in just a few weeks. There were many questions for Dr. Marks from the audience, prompting the Dean to ask if the Provost may have been seeding the questions.

This student-led organization helps reduce food insecurity and promotes wellbeing at Clemson University. Lisa and Guy Hendrix delivered two car loads of items and a check for $2000 to Paw Pantry!
There was exciting news on a mini auction fundraising that will go live August 18th – 20th. Some new and unique items are planned, including a dinner for eight with Women’s Basketball Head Coach Shawn Poppie. If you know Coach Poppie, you know what a fun night this will be. And if you don’t know him, then get your group ready to bid big and join Coach for a night you will remember! Money raised through the mini auction will also go to the FHCC Endowment which funds need-based academic scholarships to Clemson University for local students from Oconee County, Pickens County and Pendleton High School.
See you at our next Big Thursday – which will be the 2nd Thursday, November 12th! Guest speakers will be announced in the next few weeks!
Go Tigers!
