We have just completed another fun and successful year and it is time to renew memberships for our 2019-20 year, which began July 1, 2019.
On July 30th, we hosted our 6th Annual “Solid Orange” Clemson Kick Off (SOCKO) event at the Civic Center in Anderson. At the event this year, we commemorated our 10 year Anniversary as a club! We are selling koozies and T-shirts to commemorate our 10 years. There are limited quantities and sizes, so get yours while supplies last.
The SOCKO event allowed us to recognize Anderson area students that will be new students at Clemson University in the fall as well as to gather together to celebrate another National Championship and to prepare for another exciting football season! We again hosted a vendor/sponsor showcase prior to the beginning of the program for this event and had another successful silent auction. We also presented the Lee Tate Spirit of Clemson Award to a well-deserving recipient, Jimmy Kimbell.
We are still accepting new members and renewing memberships. The dues are $25/year for individual memberships and $40/year for family memberships (Family includes two adults plus children college age or younger in the same household). Please note that $5 from each membership goes to the Clemson Forever Fund in your name. You may also give a donation to the AACC in addition to your dues. Also, we offer various sponsorship packages and proposed options for how you or your business can additionally help support the AACC. We are always seeking new board leaders, members, and volunteers to help with our committees and events throughout the year.
We will continue to grow and celebrate the “Clemson Family” and all things ORANGE throughout the Anderson area, where Tiger fans are “Pawsitively Electric!” Our mission is to celebrate Clemson in fellowship, service, and networking. Please inform us of any organization or group that you think could benefit from an AACC service activity. Over the past years, our AACC has helped out various charities such as AIM, YMCA, Habitat, Humane Society, United Way, Cancer Assoc. and local schools.
For football, we will be hosting away game viewing parties at Raines on Main again this year! Raines will be our AACC home base for watching Clemson sports together. At these themed viewing parties, we will have specials, giveaways, and prizes, and we will be collecting donated items for various charities. We will be helping Denver Downs to host Clemson Day at the Maze on October 6th! We also hope to have another basketball event to get a preview of the upcoming season! In the spring, we will host our 11th Annual Baseball Tailgate and cheer on Coach Monte Lee and our Tigers to bring home another ACC Championship and a return trip to Omaha! Our main goal this year is to continue to raise funds for our AACC Scholarship Fund through the Clemson Forever Fund. Last year we established our AACC Scholarship Fund, and this past year we were able to give out our first $1,000. AACC Scholarship to Lauren McTigue for the 2018-19 school year. Our long-term goal is to establish a $25,000. Endowment Scholarship Fund which we can pledge $5,000.00/yr. over a period of 5 years, and we need your help to do this.
For my last year as your president, I look forward to another challenging and productive year. I know with our excellent board and the help and support from each of you, we will try our best to make the AACC the best!
