April 2020 Letter from AACC President and Board

April 2020 Letter from AACC President and Board

Hello, fellow Clemson Tigers!

We hope you and all of your family and loved ones are all safe and doing well during this unprecedented time in our world.

We know this COVIC-19 social distancing/quarantine is a hardship, burden, sacrifice…yes, even disappointment for each of us.

Our AACC Board had several events/activities planned for March and April and all of those have had to be canceled or postponed indefinitely…in addition to all of the Clemson spring sports and activities that are no longer taking place right now.

Clemson’s 5th annual GIVE Day (Wed. April 8th) has been canceled and is to be rescheduled at a later date.

This is usually a day that we ask each of you to donate to our AACC Scholarship Fund, (and you can still do that anytime online and when they reschedule this date.)

However, we are asking now that you consider giving back by helping out, donating items or sending monetary funds to some of the local charities that our AACC tries to help and partner with during the year.

These local organizations include, but not limited to:

AIM

Anderson Area YMCA

Anderson County Humane Society

Anderson County P.A.W.S.

AnMed Pediatric Therapy Works

Cancer Association of Anderson

Habitat for Humanity

Haven of Rest Ministries

The Lot Project

United Way – (Weekend BackPack SnackPack Program)

If you go to the grocery stores for yourself or loved ones during this time, please consider purchasing a few extra items that you can drop off to places like AIM, Haven of Rest, or the Lot Project.  Anderson County PAWS and Humane Society could use dog/cat items as well.  For the United Way, you could pick up some index cards/stickers and write happy, positive notes to children that the UW will include in the SnackPacks…this is a good project for the kids to do while they are home right now…:).

Several of these organizations have curb side drop offs right now, so you don’t have to go in or get out of your car. Just check out their websites or Facebook pages for their hours and drop off procedures.

Even better, ALL of these organizations could use your support through monetary funds and prayers.

In addition, our home for our away game viewing parties and other get-togethers is Raines on Main. Please try to support them through their call in/take out/delivery service during this time.

SAVE the DATE! – AACC 7th Annual Solid Orange Clemson Kick Off Event – Tues. July 28th at Civic Center in Anderson…put this on your calendar!…(hopefully we will be able to have it). We need all of you to come support our AACC and Freshmen students that evening.  While you have more time around your house, maybe this will be a good time to do some spring cleaning and purging, and you may find some items you could donate to our Silent Auction this year…just hang on to them and we can arrange to pick them up from you at a later date. Remember, proceeds from this event/auction go towards our AACC Scholarship Fund for Anderson County students attending Clemson University.

Also, in May or June, we need to have an Election Meeting for officers and board members for our AACC for our next fiscal year beginning July 1st.  We will keep you posted if we have to do this electronically.

If you are interested in serving in this capacity or if you know someone else to nominate, please go ahead and let us know by emailing us now. This is a wonderful way to give back to Clemson and Anderson areas by serving on our AACC Board. We will also be renewing memberships and accepting new members for our fiscal year that starts on July 1st.

In the mean time, let’s try to show some Clemson Cheer out there!!!

Wear your ORANGE!…especially on Solid ORANGE Fridays!…let’s see ORANGE and Tiger Paws everywhere!…as you are walking your dog…filling up with gas…going to the grocery store…FaceTiming…Zooming!…:)

If you do have to get in your car to go somewhere, put your Tiger flags and magnets on your car for all to see!…maybe parade through some neighborhoods.

Now would be a good time to check out some Clemson groups, organizations, athletics on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram…like, share, follow, retweet some of their posts…including our AACC!…maybe start a CLEMSON Cadence Count on your social media accounts!

Share with us how you are showing Clemson Cheer at home, work, neighborhood, and online. We want to see pictures of you, your family and pets in your ORANGE and hear some of your PAWSITIVE stories!

Let’s show our Anderson community some love and support from our AACC family!

Stay safe and well, and please abide by the precautionary practices our local, state and federal entities are advising us all to do right now to slow down, prevent, and stop this COVIC-19 virus, so we can all get back to our normal lives sooner. Sending love and hugs and prayers to all!

Hope to C U all again soon!…Let’s paint Anderson ORANGE!…Pawsitively Electric!

GO TIGERS!…Clemson Family!…ALL IN!
